The BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: A BUSKER'S OPERA
(with Leo Burtin)
The Best of Both Worlds is part cabaret, part lecture, and part participatory experiment. In this show, Leo Burtin and I make a song and dance of our financial woes. To make this piece, we've met with a host of different people - from street market traders to CEOs - in order to take the temperature of how people feel about the UK's class system.
Featuring pop songs, French street music classics and audience participation, this performance will resonate with anyone who has ever worried about money or felt squeezed by capitalism's invisible hand. If you're lucky, you might even get to join the performers onstage - and get paid for the privilege.
This show is touring in 2016/2017.A blog about the piece can be found here.
It has been developed thanks to ARC Stockton, East Street Arts Leeds and the University of Salford. It premiered at Camden People's Theatre's SPRINT Festival 2016 and is supported using National Lottery funding through the Arts Council of England.
